Economic Action Plans for Byron Shire

Byron Shire economic plan

Byron Council is seeking feedback on three Economic Action Plans that will help shape the future of Byron Shire’s local economy.

The draft plans focus on three distinct economic focus areas: Business and Industry; Destination Management and Visitor Economy; and Events.

Byron Shire Council Mayor, Sarah Ndiaye, said the Economic Action Plans were the next step in delivery of the Byron Shire Economic Strategy, which was endorsed by Council late last year.

"The Action Plans recognise the need for strategic and coordinated action to support an inclusive, resilient and vibrant local economy that reflects the values and aspirations of our community," the Mayor said.

“They’ve been developed through a local lens with expertise and input from community, creatives and business leaders on our newly established Economic Activation Group and they set out lists of priorities and actions based on community consultation undertaken last year.”

Council is encouraging businesses, industry representatives, event organisers, tourism operators and community members to review the Action Plans and provide feedback.

"We want everyone to have a say on these plans - tell us if we’ve gotten it right, give us your feedback and tell us what’s most important to you,” she said.

To view the draft Economic Action Plans and provide feedback, go to the Your Say page on Council’s website until 6 September 2026.

Alternatively, contact Council's Customer Service Team on 02 6626 7000.
